Classic competitors offered free testing
Competitors gearing up for the Silverstone Classic (28 to 30 July) are being offered the opportunity to test their cars in advance… for free!
Staged at the ‘Home of British Motorsport’, the Silverstone Classic is the world’s biggest classic motor racing festival, attracting more than 1,000 race entries.
The programme features the full spectrum of historic motorsport, and this year’s added highlights will include a special celebration to mark 50 years of the Formula Ford.
All those competing in July’s extravaganza are being given the chance to fine-tune their cars and familiarise themselves with the full Grand Prix Circuit during the Classic’s official annual Media Preview on Thursday 23 March.
The day will include morning and afternoon test sessions, which will be segregated into classes.
“We introduced free testing at the Media Preview as part of our 25th anniversary celebrations in 2015, as we wanted to give something back to all those competitors who play such an important role in making the Classic the huge success it is today,” explained Nick Wigley, CEO of event organiser Goose Live Events.
“The offer proved so popular that we repeated it last year and we are doing so again in 2017.”
Understandably, the chance for free testing at Silverstone has proved highly popular and event organisers are once again expecting the limited number of available places to be snapped up swiftly.
Entries will be accepted on a ‘first come, first served’ basis and application forms are available via the official event website at www.silverstoneclassic.com/competitor-zone.
