HSCC unveils 2018 Jaguar Classic

16 April 2018

The Historic Sports Car Club has unveiled details of the 2018 Jaguar Classic Challenge, which is being run in conjunction with Jaguar Land Rover. It is set to feature four high-profile race dates as well as an invitation race supporting the Le Mans Classic in July.

The Jaguar Classic Challenge is open to XK series, C-type, D-type, Mk1 and Mk11 saloons and pre ’66 E-types running to original specification. The series ran for the first time in 2015 and grew from the success of the earlier E-type Challenge.

The E-type Challenge was first run by the HSCC in 2011 to mark the 50th anniversary of the model and ran for three seasons before being  successfully followed by the Jaguar Classic Challenge.

The season starts at the Donington Historic Festival (4-6 May) and then takes in prime slots on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit (16/17 June) and the Oulton Park Gold Cup (25-27 August) before concluding at Spa-Francorchamps during the Classic Six Hour meeting (15/16 September). In addition, the HSCC will administer an invitational race for cars from the Challenge at the Le Mans Classic (6-8 July).

“We are delighted to continue managing the Jaguar Classic Challenge,” said HSCC chief executive Grahame White. “We’ve got a first class calendar, including an invitation race at the Le Mans Classic, and we’ve already got 30 entries for the first race of the season at the Donington Historic Festival.”
