Strong classic car presence at Motofest Coventry

10 May 2018

Motofest Coventry is set to stage the largest classic cars and bikes collection in the event’s history thanks to a new five-year sponsorship agreement with the Coventry Business Improvement District (BID), the body that represents the city’s retailers.

In ambitious plans to create a ‘show within a show’ the Coventry BID Classic will feature the largest representation of classic cars and bikes ever seen at Motofest Coventry, with the scope to feature over 1,000 cars and bikes at this year’s event.

With the BID’s long-term commitment to Motofest Coventry confirmed, organisers will work with the city’s retailers to build a dedicated classic car and bike display area in Coventry’s city centre area.

More than 1,000 cars and bikes are set to feature at this year’s event on 2/3 June with classic vehicle enthusiasts, car and bike clubs across the UK all being invited to play their part in making Motofest Coventry 2018, the best classic car and bike the city has seen since the event started five years ago.

As in previous years there will also be classic car representation on the main sprint circuit with the classic car and heritage vehicles demonstration displays again beginning the four wheeled action on the track.

The classic cars and bikes will also end the show with the Coventry BID Classic Cavalcade seeing the static display vehicles leave their allocated slots and take to the sprint circuit for parade laps of the circuit – a final awesome display of classic machinery to thrill the crowds.

“We are thrilled to be sponsoring Motofest Coventry and working with the team again after the success of last year,” said Coventry BID Director Trish Willetts. “Year on year, the event is a huge success, bringing in thousands of people to the city centre, which is why we decided to make a five-year commitment to help stage the Coventry BID Classic.

“Motofest keeps getting bigger and better and we are extremely excited for the 2018 event and everything that is planned.

“Head down to Coventry city centre on June 2 and 3, get involved with all the attractions and head into our wonderful businesses and see what they have to offer.”

Said Motofest director James Noble. “We are delighted to have BID on board with Motofest as it will go a long way in supporting the sustainability and development of the event over the next five years.

“Having the support of the BID is an incredible endorsement of Motofest’s importance to the local economy.

“With the BID’s backing we again look forward to developing an “event within an event” that will showcase the very best of classic cars and bikes and in doing so provide a further thrilling element to the show.”

Motofest Coventry 2018 is a two-day festival dedicated to the city’s motoring heritage, which this year takes place on Saturday 2 June and Sunday 3 June.

There will be a range of automotive activities taking place from pop-up and demonstration events to static displays and fringe events at Motofest, now the largest free urban motorsport festival in the UK.
